IntenseRO

Well, my friend tells me he started playing again, so I figured (with an eye roll) that I may as well hop on.  It's 150x rates too, so no harm there.

After a bunch of issues with the 1.7GB full client DL not working and ratemyserver.net's filefront downloads being corrupted, i managed to hack together a working intenseRO folder by ripping some files from LRO and combining it with the IRO files I had.  and then...

Success!  It was already fairly late in the night, but I really needed to kick back a little (rough night), so I wanted to at least get started.  I quickly created my character, with the same recognizable red hairstyle as always, and named her Reinforce san.  I couldn't think of anything else ^^;

And here I am in the newbie spawn area.  As always, it seems rather crowded and bustling.  There's a bunch of NPCs here; even one for healing + bless + agi.  convenient, though it kind of upsets me because it means my support role is somewhat diminished and I can't go off and do as many random acts of kindness.  Oh well.

First thing I did was to buy some items and go off to the Ice Dungeon to complete the quest which would get me to base level 81 (as mentioned in a guide on the forums).  As you can see here, I ran into some issues while I was fly wing'ing around.  The warper lets you get into any level of the dungeon though, so that's convenient.

Ah, finally I reach the guy in the ice.  Then it's just a few more short steps to finish the quest...

And hooray, I'm base level 81!  ...as a jlvl1 novice.  Haha, ridiculous.  Anyhow, went to Ant Hell to whack some things.

And hooray, I'm a cute aco!~

Here's a screenie of the main town.  I forget what it's called now; name starts with a B or something.  Then Pront is the official vending town, and there's also a Mall full of NPCs selling items, etc.

After whacking a few more ants I had my healbomb set up, so I went to Payon dungeon and gained some more easy jlvls, then I was off to Amatsu for more healbombing of firelocks.  Somewhere along the way I also tried to kill an Anubis in Sphinx but failed miserably xD.

Anyhoo, that got me to jlvl 50, and then now I'm a priest!  Ugh, ugly...

Why I'm a support priest

In the past I've been one for dps characters (mage, archer), but I'm building a support priest now because A) it fits my persona very well and B) we actually have a group, so I actually have people to support.

My enneagram type is a number 2, and this page describes me almost frighteningly well.  So really it all fits quite well.  And I have a female avatar, of -course-, because it helps me feel closer to my cutesy girly "ideal" that is impossible for me to attain in real life.

With that out of the way, a slight progress update:
We got Colleen (ign FireJade) successfully patched up and started, so Michelle and Kotaro helped her figure out the basics of where to go; how to level/change jobs/etc.  Meanwhile I followed along casting a crapton of different buffs on her and healing her for 2100 HP (her base at the time was probably something like 100).  Kotaro + Natalie were still having troubles with their installs last I checked, but me and Colleen have both transcended now.  I'm currently a high acolyte, so I get to look pretty again for now, until I get to high priest...>_>

And off we go...

Ah, RO...while I can't say I have nearly as many memories with it as I have with other games (D2, IWBTG, Super Metroid), there was an ever-so-slight sense of nostalgia as I finally managed to get the client and patch working and I fired up the character selection screen.

Okay, rather than make this a long and drawn-out post (which I am totally capable of), I'm just going to make this relatively quick, since it's 5:00 AM anyways (wtf!?).

The first time I played RO, I had four characters--one hunter, one knight, one wizard, and a monk.

Anyways, my new char is a priest, with the same hair style as Morta, my old knight.  I'm not naming her anything fancy--just going by DDRKirby(ISQ).  Hair is one of the defining characteristics of an RO character I think, but for me (with my trichophilic tendencies) it's even MORE of a big deal.  The first time, when I was making my three first characters in RO, I had this sheet of scratch paper where I was just brainstorming which hairstyles looked good, not to mention hair colors...aggh, it was really hard.

I think acolytes look really cute, but unfortunately I'm stuck with the less-appealing priest outfit.  Oh well.

Anyhoo, first things first--generated my character, went out and whacked on the first thing I saw.  This is my first time on a high-rate server so it was a bit weird to be at lvl 30 after killing one enemy T_T.

Then it was off to the church to become an acolyte...see, see how cute I look? ^^  With my arms crossed so sweetly in front of me~

One of the main draws of RO for me is actually that I get to look cute~.  Which you might think is ridiculous, but if you know me well enough, you'd probably understand.

After going around in some random areas in whacking some more stuff until job level 50, it was time for priest change.  I look less cute now =(...but, at least I still get to cross my arms in front of me ^^;

I went with some random guide from GameFAQs for my skill build, which probably means it's suboptimal.  I guess I probably should have waited for someone (*looks at Kotaro/Michelle*) to just give me a build, but oh well--I just wanted to feel like I accomplished something anyways.  I can always respec later, if need be.  Anyways, look at all the fancy buffs I can apply now...whee...
